And
what is so rare as a day in June? Then, if ever, come perfect days;
Then Heaven tries earth if it be in tune, And over it softly her warm ear
lays:
Whether we look, or whether we listen, We hear life murmur, or see it glisten.
-James
Russell Lowell |

Jennie
Litt & David Alpher's "Smart Alecky Songs for Serious
Times"
An all-original satirical revue, a program of original
cabaret songs (lyrics by Litt, music by Alpher) addressing
topics as diverse as the weaponization of space, water-borne
pathogens, and first-date disasters. Smart Alecky
Songs is entertainment in the
tradition of another great New England-bred talent, Tom
Lehrer—comic songs and social satire, to the tune of a
virtuoso piano.
|

Alpher and Litt
have been called a
perfect musical ensemble," and one critic
wrote, "Jennie Litt's lovely voice is
perfectly suited to her repertoire... .
She can really sell a song, like
Barbara Cook can sell a song."
Alpher's playing
has been described as
"brilliant... and idiomatic," and the
Newark Star-Ledger said
"Alpher’s music is all his own, and it
is remarkably good...remarkably rare."
